Connemara marble is Ireland's rare, 900-million-year-old national gemstone featuring over 40 shades of green unique to County Galway. Marcasite, historically used alongside it in Celtic jewelry is a shimmering metallic iron sulfide (commonly cut from stable pyrite) that adds an antique, starry contrast to the green Irish stone.
